This is the second of four drawings I did of Detroit, based on my explorations there in Google Street View. There’s something of a barren open-ness here, and the cracks in the tarmac suggest neglect despite this being part of a very large city. Along the road in the other direction (behind me) is a residential area in which some houses are abandoned and becoming overgrown with trees and other vegetation, and some have disappeared completely to leave open rectangular ‘fields’ of coarse grassland.
