I chose to draw this beech in black pen instead of colour because I wanted to emphasize the smooth and graceful nature of its tall double trunks, in contrast to the patterning formed by its roots spreading over the ground. I used an eraser to lighten the other trees so that they are thrown a bit further into the background.
