
Actually, that bright orange is not moss; it’s a liverwort called Herbertus hutchinsiae. But “Man and moss…” sounds more catchy than “Man and liverwort…”. This guy (John Hooson, an ecologist) doesn’t really have a hand like that. It’s just that I was having trouble drawing it, and after rubbing it out I suddenly thought of keeping it white and making a feature of it.
