
I saw these rowans, on a steep, rocky slope, while mapping the vegetation of a large area of upland. I was working on that site for a few days and for most of the fieldwork time it was raining heavily. But that’s to be expected. I remember once hearing an ecologist colleague in Edinburgh saying: “Argyll – that’s where rain comes from!”.
