The original tower dates back to the 16th century. It fell into ruin but has been restored in recent years. The sandstone is of a warm reddish colour. There’s a lovely wooded valley nearby, with a path winding through it to the village of Garvald about 600 metres to the south-west; many of the buildings in Garvald are also built from that same type of reddish sandstone.
