This was a great tree to draw because it’s got such a substantial look about it (thick trunk, etc) and because the houses and road help to give scale and because the young tree also gives scale and a reminder that young trees can look great too. It’s strange that with the appearances of trees we often focus especially on the old ones, marvelling at how their ancient, weathered and sculpted trunks and branches look, but with people it’s the reverse with much of the public focus being on the young. So here’s a young tree as well as an old one. And in the People section of this Galleries page you’ll see pictures of people of varying ages (and actually, as I’ve just realised, with a disproportionately low representation of the young!).
