
I drew this as an illustration of coastal vegetated shingle to go in a document I wrote about coastal habitats for people working on the UK National Plant Monitoring Scheme. I didn’t have a photo of a good example of this habitat, so I took myself off on Google Street View and found this place on the Sussex coast where the presence of some houses and people helped to give a sense of scale (and, of course, a human connection) to everything. Shoreham-by-sea: I wouldn’t mind going there some time.
